Name of the Project: Cluster Frontline Demonstration on Oilseed
1. Rationality:
To enhance the production of oilseed in the country.
2. Objective:
To demonstrate newly released crop production protection technologies and management practices to the farming community for increasing production and productivity, aiming to make the country self-sufficient in oilseeds.
3. Achievements:
- ICAR–ATARI, Zone–VI, implemented the CFLD Oilseed project in 36 KVKs of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim during 2023-24 for increasing farmers' production. Kharif Oilseeds such as Sesame and Rabi Pulses like Lentil were included.
- In Assam, A total of 1420 ha area is allocated out of which 1391 ha area has been achieved and 3535 number of demonstrations were conducted.
- In Arunachal Pradesh, A total of 420 ha area is allocated out of which 280 ha area has been achieved and 712 number of demonstrations were conducted.
- In Sikkim, A total of 100 ha area is allocated out of which 80 ha area has been achieved and 173 number of demonstrations were conducted.
- Major Technologies adopted in CFLD pulses during the programme were HYV with scientific management practices, IPM with yellow sticky trap, organic cultivation, vermicomposting, INM, HYV Seeds & Scientific nutrient management, improved production technology including treatment of seed with bio-fertilizer Rhizobium, varietal evolution, evolution of breed, resource conservation etc.
