A Capacity Building Programme on Efficient Administrative & Financial Management for the Accountants & Assistants of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim was organized at ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI, Guwahati from the 9th to 11th July, 2024.

Dr. V.K. Gupta, Director, ICAR-NRC on Pig, Rani and Chief Guest of the function underscored the significance of such programs for enhancing financial acumen and adopting new methodologies. He emphasized the necessity of addressing gaps within the financial system through expert intervention.

Dr. G. Kadirvel, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI elaborated on the funding mechanisms of ICAR and new financial policies. He stressed the importance of adapting to evolving financial management practices. Dr. S.K. Das, CF&AO, ICAR-NIASM, Baramati, highlighted the formulation of financial rules and the need for continuous knowledge enrichment in the finance sector.

Other notable dignitaries at the event included Shri Gauranga Ghosh, CF&AO, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam; Shri Utpal Ghosh, F&AO, ICAR-NRC on Pig, Rani; Shri G.G. Harakangi, CAO(SG), ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region; Mr. Noni Debnath, Technical Officer (Computer) and Nodal Officer (GeM), ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region; Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal Scientist & Course Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI; Dr. Bagish Kumar, Scientist, ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI; and Dr. M. Thoithoi Devi, Scientist, ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI along with other staff and officials. 

The programme saw participation of 38 Accountants and Assistants from KVKs across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim. Participants received comprehensive training on Purchase Procedures like GeM, General Financial Rules (GFR), Cashbook maintenance, preparation of Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS) and Inventory Management etc.

This program reinforced the commitment of ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI to enhance the administrative and financial management capabilities of KVK personnel, ensuring better service delivery.
